Our morning walk this morning took us along the coastal path, looking out at the calm blue sea with fishing boats bobbing around in the distance. The walled walkway along the coast took us all the way from our campsite to the beach at the far end of Llanes. We arrived in time to seeContinue reading “Exploring – Llanes, Asturias, Spain”

Moving west – Llanes, Asturias, Spain
We took our final walk along the beach by the campsite this morning. The stick competition was won conclusively by Lola. Reluctantly we move on from San Vicente de la Barquera today. We have really enjoyed it here and we could happily stay for much longer. However, we have a timetable based on maximum durationContinue reading “Moving west – Llanes, Asturias, Spain”
The longest beach and more seafood – San Vicente de la Barquera, Cantabria, Spain
This morning started with another lovely beach walk with Lizzy and Lola. This time along the longest beach in northern Spain, Playa de Méron and Playa de Gerra which are literally a 2 minute walk from the entrance to the campsite. Again dogs were prohibited but with about 10 other dogs in near view weContinue reading “The longest beach and more seafood – San Vicente de la Barquera, Cantabria, Spain”
Beach walks and Seafood – San Vicente de la Barquera, Cantabria, Spain
We had the most beautiful start to this morning with a one mile walk to the picturesque beach in the village. Despite the dogs prohibited sign there were already 3 local dogs out for a walk. So we decided to join them. It was still fairly early and the light was just perfect for someContinue reading “Beach walks and Seafood – San Vicente de la Barquera, Cantabria, Spain”
Caves, cliffs and red wine showers – Cóbreces, Cantabria, Spain
We had a final walk around Santillana del Mar with Lizzy and Lola before embarking on the 3km drive to the Cueva de Altimira. The caves at Altimira are one of several in the area with caves paintings and habitation evidence going back 40,000 years, which is pretty mind blowing. The caves were not notContinue reading “Caves, cliffs and red wine showers – Cóbreces, Cantabria, Spain”
Tapas and Estrella, Viva España! – Santillana del Mar
After a heavy crossing on the Plymouth – Santander ferry, the sea and wind dropped as we came into the lee of land. Those in dog friendly cabins we sent to the car deck an hour before in preparation for arrival. Lizzy and Lola seemed pleased to be back in familiar territory. After what feltContinue reading “Tapas and Estrella, Viva España! – Santillana del Mar”
And we are off in our new Motorhome – Pont-Aven Ferry, Bay of Biscay
We had planned to have visited Morocco and been skiing in France by this point in the year but the Omicron variant put pay to those plans with closed borders early in the year. We then decided we would use our full 90 days on Europe travelling through France, Italy, Sardinia and Corsica. Well 85Continue reading “And we are off in our new Motorhome – Pont-Aven Ferry, Bay of Biscay”
Home sweet home – Cornwall, UK
We were up early for our 8.20 crossing thinking we might try and get ahead to the 07.20 as we had on the way out. However, when we made our way the mile or so down the road to the Tunnel check-in, we had to complete the pet check-in first and it was closed. ThereContinue reading “Home sweet home – Cornwall, UK”
Final day – Sangatte, France
Our final day started with a couple of hours of driving to the north coast of France. We passed the entrance for the Channel Tunnel and went onto the small village of Sangatte. The name of this village is obviously notorious now for the Red Cross migrant camp which was set up here in 1999Continue reading “Final day – Sangatte, France”
City Tour – Rouen, France
After organising Passenger Locator forms and Day 2 COVID tests, we had finally completed all the admin to be able to get home. We could therefore have a nice final day of touring in Rouen. The marina on the Seine that we are staying on is a 2 mile walk from the historic quarter ofContinue reading “City Tour – Rouen, France”
