We have had much discussion on our longer term plans during this trip, as we have had time to reflect. We have watched a lot of vlogs, read blogs and thought about where we want to go. We are contemplating a longer trip and venturing to some less well travelled spots. Many of those thatContinue reading “Krug Explorer visit – Schladming, Styria, Austria”

LPG drought is over – Schladming, Styria, Austria
Today’s mission was not hitting the slopes in this fabulous Austrian ski resort, but getting LPG. We are only going to be in Austria a short while then return back through Italy where we know it will be difficult / impossible to get it. There was a chance that the on-site LPG station at ourContinue reading “LPG drought is over – Schladming, Styria, Austria”
In the Mountains – Schladming, Styria, Austria 🇦🇹
Surprise! We are in the snow and mountains of Austria, having driven the full length of mainland Italy. We have a visit planned here on Wednesday, but more of that later. We woke this morning to a hard frost in Venice as we did a longer walk to give the girls a run before aContinue reading “In the Mountains – Schladming, Styria, Austria 🇦🇹”
Such a perfect day – San Giuliano, Venice, Italy
Yesterday we drove over from Florence to the waters edge overlooking Venice at San Guiliano. We crossed the mountains at Bologna, getting down to 2.5 degrees C, then weirdly up to 17 degrees when we passed through a really long tunnel going under the mountains. We soon passed into the flat lands around Venice. AfterContinue reading “Such a perfect day – San Giuliano, Venice, Italy”
The return – Florence, Tuscany, Italy
Last night about 23:30, I heard the Last Post and then what I assume is First Post (?!) at 06:30 this morning. So, it appears we are not on the most patriotic campsite in Italy, but we are next door to the Commando barracks 😂 We still enjoy our rousing twice daily Italian anthems thoughContinue reading “The return – Florence, Tuscany, Italy”
City visit – Florence, Tuscany, Italy
This morning it was time for our visit to Florence, a city which has been on my list for a long time. I can’t believe we are here already, time is rushing past. We had an easy trip to the city centre with a shuttle bus for €1.50 each way from reception and Lizzy andContinue reading “City visit – Florence, Tuscany, Italy”
Lovely walled village and best campsite – Florence, Tuscany, Italy
We had a lovely walk around Monteriggioni this morning on the icy ground, it did not take too long though as it was all closed. We did not get the coffee we were looking for. Luckily we had ventured out last night and managed to get a fabulous meal in the only restaurant open onContinue reading “Lovely walled village and best campsite – Florence, Tuscany, Italy”
Heading north via Monte Cassino – Monteriggioni, Tuscany, Italy
The forecast for today was for another huge splodge of blue on the radar images to hit us with torrential rain, the last remnants of a large low pressure system. It did not feel like a day for sightseeing on the Amalfi coast sadly and we needed to make some movement north. Today seemed likeContinue reading “Heading north via Monte Cassino – Monteriggioni, Tuscany, Italy”
Herculaneum – Pompei, Calabria, Italy
After a late finish last night in Naples, we had a slower start this Sunday morning. It was another very rainy night, but by 11am there was a break in the clouds and we ventured out to Herculaneum. A short train journey from the station next door. Herculaneum lies halfway to Naples and more directlyContinue reading “Herculaneum – Pompei, Calabria, Italy”
Pompeii Take 2 and Napoli Food Tour – Pompei, Calabria, Italy
We decided that there was just too much of Pompeii archeological site we did not get to visit yesterday and we wanted to go again. It is only a 5 minute walk to the entrance so we couldn’t really not go again. Thankfully the rain had stopped by the time we left despite dramatic thunder,Continue reading “Pompeii Take 2 and Napoli Food Tour – Pompei, Calabria, Italy”
