We had an early start watching the English Red Roses play the New Zealand Black Ferns in the women’s Rugby World Cup. Despite valiant play after they had a player sent off after 17 minutes and still leading much of the game, England had their 5th straight defeat against New Zealand in the final.
A quick dog walk and Boulanger run at half time we managed to have breakfast and get the van ready to hit the road again as we finished watching the game
We met Pat, Alec, Claire and Archie at the little market in Lagrasse held in the ancient Market hall. Kevin secured his ham and cheese futures at nice stall from a local producers, though as is often the case at Farmer’s markets it was fairly pricey.

We managed to all get a seat at the coffee van to have a final catch up before we hit the road with plans to meet up. However, as our plans are rather loose to say the least, we are limiting these to an approximate season of where we will be when.

Less than a couple of hours down the road including refuelling with diesel and LPG, we had driven out of the clouds and into the blue skies and 23 degrees of the Costa Brava. We managed to get one of the last 3 places at a large Aire built in 2018. We did not see another UK in the busy Aire. After a quick check-in with the very helpful attendant, we decided to go and explore.

We took the girls for a walk along the beach front. We are staying between Roses and Empuriabrava, it’s short walk to both along the beachfront promenade. However, as England v Japan is on in a couple of hours we limited ourselves to the most local bars. Our plan is a quick bar and then back to see the game in the van. Perhaps a little tapas later 🇪🇸😋 Really must get out on our bikes tomorrow!
