Stopping for refreshment on route north – Chablis, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, France

It was finally time to tear ourselves reluctantly away from the Alps. We needed to get a fair way north today due to our future plans before our ferry home. Sadly leaving the Jura mountains and the Burgundy region behind for our next trip.

It’s a sign…..

We looked for an overnight stop part way north and spotted Chablis, the home of our favourite wine on the way. Happy days 😁🥳🥂

Therefore we pulled into a beautiful municipal campsite in Chablis this afternoon beside the beautiful Serein river. The river is absolutely brim full of fish. I have never seen so many. We wasted no time in heading into the lovely village of honey coloured stone houses, crammed full of wine caves selling Chablis. We may have found heaven 😂

Sadly arriving on a Monday means that many of the excellent looking restaurants are closed. The only flaw to our plan. We have managed to do some wine tasting though, which turned into “yes we love all of those thanks” 😂
